Two of the Cavendish area's most prominent tourism establishments, Shining Waters Country Inn & Cottages and Ingleside Lodge Motel & Cottages, have now been amalgamated to form the Shining Waters - Ingleside Resort. The combined facility includes a 13 room country inn, 38 cottages, and 10 motel units (4 of which are efficiency units). The 6 acre ocean view site is directly adjacent to the PEI National Park and is the closest accommodations to the Cavendish Main Beach.

Shining Waters Country Inn has been welcoming guests to the Island for over fifty years. The original part of the building, constructed in the 1850's, was the home of several generations of the MacNeill family. It was moved by a team of horses to its present location in 1942 and converted to an inn. The author, L.M. Montgomery, wrote that the character Rachel Lynde, in the book "Anne of Green Gables" was taken from Rachael, Mrs. Pierce MacNeill. Her adopted daughter, Ellen, is widely believed to have been the inspiration for Anne.

Beautiful Cavendish Beach and the famous Prince Edward Island National Park are only 500 metres away. The Anne of Green Gables House and Golf Course are just around the corner and the Cavendish Area Tourist Information Centre is directly across the street.

In 2004 we have added 5 new luxury suites, three in our new "Gatehouse" and two in the main building.
