The Home Place Inn & Restaurant ( Kensington )
This historic home retains much of the original ambiance through thoughtful renovations, hardwood floors and period furnishings. Many of the family's original furnishings, antiques, photographs and oil paintings, painted by Orr family descendents, hang proudly on our walls.
This historic home was built in 1915 by local merchant Parmenus Orr and retains much of the original ambiance through thoughtful renovations, hardwood floors and period furnishings. Many of the family's original furnishings, antiques, photographs and oil paintings, painted by Orr family descendents, hang proudly on our walls. A large verandah on the front of the house is available for "old fashion" relaxing.
In 1849, John Orr set sail from Charlottetown Harbour on board the Brig Fanny to seek his fortune in the California gold fields. His interesting account of the voyage is on display and a mural of the Brig Fanny graces the dining room wall.
The Home Place has preserved the rich history of the Orr family and we cordially invite you to share this history and experience our comforatble home. We treat our guests as we like to be treated.
